AR 298 - History of the Designed Environment: Antiquity to Mid-Nineteenth Century A study of interiors, furniture, material culture, art and architecture within a historical context. Students analyze the social, political and physical influences affecting historical changes in the built environment, as well as the impact of the built environments of the past on current design practices. The course includes a survey of significant movements, traditions and theories in the built environment from antiquity through the mid-1800s.
