HA 516 - Healthcare Finance The knowledge of financial principles is advantageous to managers in virtually every discipline in healthcare. The content of this course integrates both conceptual and practical information related to financial and managerial accounting and financial management within healthcare organizations. The following topics will be covered: financial accounting: income statement and statement of change in equity, balance sheet and statement of cash flows; managerial accounting: cost behaviors and profit analysis, cost allocation models, pricing and service decisions, planning and budgeting; financial management concepts: time value analysis, financial risk and required return; long-term financing: LT debt financing, equity financing and security markets, capital structure and the cost of capital; capital investment decisions: capital budgeting, project risk analysis; current asset management and financing; financial condition analysis, lease financing and business valuation; financial risk management; and consider ethical implications associated with financial practices and decision-making. Prerequisite(s): HA 518 is normally taken prior to this course; however, the MHA Director may make an exception. Fulfills: 4+1 Credits: 3
