MU106 - Music of the 1960’s: The Beatles This course examines the music of The Beatles and its influence on American music and culture of the time. Basic terms of musical grammar will first be covered, followed by a brief survey of popular music in America and England from the1940’s and 1950’s, concluding with a more detailed study of the musical trends which led to the style of the Beatles. The bulk of the course will be a detailed examination of the music and progress of the Beatles, both as musicians and cultural icons of the time, and how this both impacted, created, and reacted to the culture and events of the 1960’s.
