EDM 358 - Reading and Writing in the Content AreasCrosslisted: EDS 358 This course provides middle school and secondary teacher candidates with theory-based strategies to develop middle school and high school learners’ engagement with literacy, with a focus on building literacy competencies in both discipline-specific and interdisciplinary contexts. Course activities will include critical examination, modeling, and practice with theory-based teaching and learning strategies that will scaffold the development of middle school and secondary school learners’ oral, written, visual, technological, and higher-order literacy competencies. Prerequisite(s): Admission to the School of Education. Note: Recommend simultaneous enrollment with Field Experience I. Lecture Hours: 3 Lab Hours: 0 Credits: 3
