HIS 333 - The Modern Middle East


This seminar examines the political, economic, social and intellectual history of the modern Islamic world. The course’s main themes are Islam and modernization; the Islamic world and World Wars I and II; colonization and decolonization; Islamic world and the Cold War; and the rise of the “radical” Islam. The seminar shall comprise an inquiry of period literature. [European/Classical Concentration]
