PC 200 - Introduction to Peace Studies


A survey course designed to provide a general overview of the interdisciplinary issues presented in peace studies programs today and the history of academic peace studies. Examines the causes of war and the variety of approaches to peacemaking. Explores in depth pacifism and nonviolence, the just war theory, crusade mentality and peace through strength. The diversity of the peace movement from 1945 to the present is given major attention.
