Actuarial science is the study of the financial implications of uncertain future events that relates to the quantification of risk using math, probability and statistics. Actuaries study how to quantify and manage risk in the insurance industry and to ensure that insurance companies are financially stable now and for decades into the future. The goal of the program is to prepare students for the first two actuary exams.

It is expected that students in the Actuarial Science program have the requisite knowledge in Mathematics to start Calculus. Students who do not place into Calculus or who have not completed and/or transferred the equivalent of MA141/College Trigonometry or MA150/Precalculus will need to take additional math coursework as prerequisites.

Additional Requirements

Park University grants the Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Bachelor of Public Administration, Bachelor of Science in Education, Bachelor of Fine Arts, and the Bachelor of Music Degree upon completion of the following requirements:

Completion of a minimum of 120 semester hours with a cumulative 2.0 GPA (or higher dependent on major).
A minor for Geography, B.S. and Information Systems, B.S. majors.
Satisfaction of all requirements for a major.
Completion of degree specific requirements.
Completion of Liberal Education requirements.
Completion of residency requirement, 30 hours of earned and graded (A, B, C, D) college hours at Park University. At least 15 of these 30 hours must be in the major.
Submission of an Application for Graduation.
